The Age of Empires IV team has shared an updated roadmap highlighting what’s on the way, including the start of Season One. According to the devs, although we don’t yet have an arrival date for Season One, it’s “not too far off.” Season One brings with it the 1v1 Ranked Ladder, hotkey and quality-of-life improvements such as Global Build Queue, the Age of Empires IV content editor (beta) and mods, and a new Art of War challenge. For Ranked Seasons, you’ll first take part in placement battles, which give you your rank. You can then improve it by winning Ranked games and earning Rank Points, but it’s also possible to lose Rank Points by losing games. Your rank will show up on your profile. Ranked Season Two will arrive later in the year, and the devs say they’re looking to “grow this feature” with player feedback. Season Two will also bring remappable inputs, a map vote system, and more. We don’t yet have a release date for Season One, but we’ll be sure to update you when we hear of it.
