New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave the home plate umpire a piece of his mind during Thursday’s game against the Oakland Athletics.

The New York Yankees are on fire right now, as they carried an 11-game winning streak heading into Thursday night’s game against the Oakland Athletics. Given that they want to catch the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East standings, they were not going to stand for an umpire’s questionable strike zone.

In the first and second innings, outfielders Aaron Judge and Joey Gallo were called out on strikes that were located outside of the batters box. After Gallo expressed his frustrations on the call, Yankees manager Aaron Boone emerged from the dugout and completely flipped on home plate umpire Todd Tichenor.

As expected, Boone was ejected from the game. Warning, there is NSFW language in the clip.

Yankees respond to Aaron Boone’s ejection by knocking in some runs

The Yankee players saw Boone argue for them on the questionable strike three calls, and they responded in kind, and quickly.

Designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton, who was standing right next to Boone, immediately hit a solo home run to center field. Outfielder Brett Gardner followed suit with a one-run homer to right field, giving New York a 2-0 lead. In the third-inning, Anthony Rizzo knocked in shortstop Andrew Velazquez on a double to left field. Then, Gallo got his measure of revenge by completely destroying the baseball on a massive three-run homer, giving the Yankees a 6-0 lead.

Safe to say that Boone definitely lit a fire under the Yankees following his epic ejection.
