After a number of users reported issues with their Xiaomi/Poco/Redmi phones after a system update, the company put out an official statement on X, admitting there is indeed a problem with the latest plugin update.
Once installed, the phone may enter into a bootloop cycle and there’s no way out unless you perform a factory reset. From what we could gather, the issue affects only MIUI-running smartphones, which is why this happens.
As per Lavanguardia, the bootloop issue is caused by a MIUI system app. Reportedly, Xiaomi was supposed to bump up the version of the app for HyperOS-running users, but the update ended up on MIUI-powered phones as well, which in turn caused an incompatibility issue, resulting in a boot looping state.
Xiaomi says it has contained the issue, but only a small number of users are affected, and unfortunately, only a factory reset, performed by one of Xiaomi’s service centers, can fix the issue. The factory reset, of course, will wipe out all your data.
