It’s all about gathering resources and finding that industrious Dwarf who can make what you need. So let’s dive into the basics of crafting!
The Basics Of Crafting In Return To Moria: The Crafting Stations
If you have read our guide on the gathering resources then you should know that you need a few starter resources to get started on crafting. The crafting station is where you will have to come to build your weapon and to upgrade them. There are 3 primary crafting station:
The Forge
The Forge is the most important crafting station in Return to Moria. It is used to craft weapons and armor, which are essential for surviving and defeating enemies in the dangerous depths of the mines.
To use the Forge, you will need to have the necessary resources, such as Iron Ore, Steel Ingots, and Mithril Ore, as well as the corresponding crafting recipes. You can obtain crafting recipes by repairing broken Dwarven statues, finding chests, completing quests, or purchasing them from vendors.
Once you have the necessary resources and crafting recipe, you can simply approach the Forge and press the E key to open the crafting menu. From here, you can select the item you want to craft and then click the Craft button.
The Forge can be upgraded by using Stone Blocks and Iron Ingots. Upgrading the Forge will allow you to craft higher quality weapons and armor.
The Workbench
The Workbench is another important crafting station in Return to Moria. It is used to craft tools, furniture, and other items. Tools are essential for gathering resources and crafting items. For example, you will need a Pickaxe to mine Iron Ore and a Woodcutter’s Axe to chop down trees for Wood Scraps.
Furniture can be used to decorate your home or base, and can also provide some useful benefits, such as increased storage space or crafting speed.
To use the Workbench, you will need to have the necessary resources, such as Wood Scraps, Stone Blocks, and Iron Ingots, as well as the corresponding crafting recipes. Crafting recipes can be obtained in the same way as for the Forge.
Once you have the necessary resources and crafting recipe, you can simply approach the Workbench and press the E key to open the crafting menu. From here, you can select the item you want to craft and then click the Craft button.
The Workbench can also be upgraded by using Stone Blocks and Iron Ingots. Upgrading the Workbench will allow you to craft higher quality tools and furniture through the Great Forge.
The Great Forge
The Great Forge is the most powerful crafting station in Return to Moria. It is used to craft the highest quality weapons, armor, and tools.
To use the Great Forge, you will need to have the necessary resources, such as Steel Ingots, Mithril Ore, and Adamant, as well as the corresponding crafting recipes. Crafting recipes for the Great Forge are very rare, and can only be obtained from certain late-game quests and vendors.
Once you have the necessary resources and crafting recipe, you can simply approach the Great Forge and press the E key to open the crafting menu. From here, you can select the item you want to craft and then click the Craft button.
Unlocking Crafting Recipes in Return to Moria
There are four ways to unlock more crafting recipes in Return to Moria:
Gathering Resources
There are many different ways to gather resources in Return to Moria. You can chop down trees for wood, mine stone walls for stone, defeat enemies for iron and mithril, and more. Gathering resources is essential for crafting, and it can also unlock new crafting recipes.
For example, if you gather enough iron ore, you will unlock the recipe for an Iron Hammer. Crafting an Iron Hammer will allow you to repair damaged statues, which can reward you with even more crafting recipes.

Repairing Damaged Statues
Damaged statues can be found throughout Moria. To repair a damaged statue, you will need an Iron Hammer and ten stone blocks. Once you have the necessary materials, simply approach the statue and press the E key to repair it.
Repairing damaged statues will reward you with random crafting recipes. You may receive a recipe for a new weapon, armor, or tool. You may even receive a recipe for a new building or decoration.
Completing Muznakans
Muznakans are small shrines dedicated to Dwarven families. They can be found throughout Moria, but the first Muznakan is located just outside Ori’s Outpost.
Some Muznakans are incomplete, with missing carvings on their statues. Muznakan Carvings can be found scattered throughout the ruins of Moria. Once you have found all of the missing carvings for a Muznakan, you can restore them to the shrine.
Completing Muznakans will reward you with exclusive crafting recipes, new weapons, and armor. The rewards for each Muznakan are different, so it is worth exploring all of the Muznakans that you can find.
Finding Chests
Chests can be found throughout Moria and sometimes contain crafting recipes. Chests can be hidden in plain sight or tucked away in secret locations. It is worth exploring every nook and cranny of Moria if you are looking for crafting recipes.

Here are our top 6 items to craft at the very beginning of the game.
Stone Hearth
The Stone Hearth is the most important item in Return to Moria, as it allows you to build a base anywhere. Through this you get a place to rest, cook food, and store your resources.To craft a Stone Hearth, you will need 18 Stone, 15 Coal and 20 Wood Scraps
Furnace
The Furnace is essential for smelting ores into ingots. Ingots are used to craft weapons, armor, and other tools. To craft a Furnace, you will need 20 Stone
Forge
The Forge, as we’ve mentioned before, is used to craft weapons and armor. Weapons and armor are essential for survival, as they allow you to defend yourself against enemies. To craft a Forge, you will need 5 Iron Ingots
Bedroll
The Bedroll is a checkpoint that allows you to respawn at your last claimed location if you die. It allows you to avoid losing your progress if you die in a dangerous area. To craft a Bedroll, you will need the 5 Cloth Scraps.
Repair Smithy
The Repair Smithy allows you to repair your weapons and armor using Metal Scraps. It allows you to keep your weapons and armor in good condition without having to spend valuable resources crafting new ones. To craft a Repair Smithy, you will need 5 Iron Ingots
Meal Table
