Skull & Bones has been rated by the ESRB in North America, and a new report suggests Ubisoft will re-reveal the swashbuckling adventure game in July. The troubled pirate game was recently rated in Brazil for Xbox Series X|S but not for Xbox One. Now, Skull & Bones has been given a “Mature” rating by the ESRB, and a fresh report suggests Ubisoft will re-reveal the game next month. Skull & Bones ESRB rating suggests no Xbox One releaseAs per the ESRB website, Skull & Bones again has only been rated for current-gen consoles, PC, and Stadia, so it looks like Ubisoft has cancelled the Xbox One version of the game. The rating also gives us a few new details about Skull & Bones. “This is a naval-combat action game in which players assume the role of a shipwrecked outcast on a journey to become a pirate captain,” the rating reads. “As players take on missions, they can explore settlements and engage in dramatic sea battles. From a first-person perspective, players command their crew to shoot cannons at rivals (e.g., warships, merchant ships, settlements/forts) in attempts to obtain loot/goods.”It then goes on to say that enemy ships can be rammed and boarded “resulting in brief cutscenes” of crew members engaging in combat, which seems to suggest that the way you board ships will be a little more scripted as opposed to the way you board a vessel in Sea of Thieves. There are also territories that “depict corpses impaled on spikes or hanging from nooses,” settlements that feature brothels and prostitutes, and opium dens — all the usual pirating accoutrement. A recent report from Tom Henders at Try Hard Guides, which was seemingly published before the ESRB rating was discovered, suggests Ubisoft will re-reveal Skull & Bones sometime next week. The report claims that Ubisoft will reveal a release date and new gameplay on the title. Will we finally see Skull & Bones after all these years? Do you think it has the sea legs to be able to compete with Sea of Thieves? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
