Polyarc has revealed that Moss: Book II is headed to Meta Quest 2 on July 21, marking the first time that the game has jumped to another platform since its initial launch on PlayStation VR earlier this year.Moss: Book II picks up shortly after the ending of the original game, but the sequel leans much more heavily into its narrative, while also providing new weapons, locations, and creative puzzles to solve. Players once again take on dual roles by directly controlling tiny mouse protagonist Quill while also interacting with the world to solve environmental puzzles from afar as the all-seeing Reader. Moss: Book 2 Gameplay ScreenshotsThough the overall experience will remain intact in its move to Quest 2, Moss: Book II will feature some visual and interaction changes, such as taking advantage of the headset’s unique two-controller design, which Polyarc states will allow “players to express themselves more freely in the world.””For this release, we didn’t just want to get Book II running on Quest 2 and call it a day, so we took our time diligently balancing all aspects of the game, across graphics and gameplay, with the end goal being a truly memorable experience,” said Polyarc technical artist Tyler Walters. “Throughout this process, we were regularly excited by the level of fidelity we were able to achieve on Quest 2, often finding ways to make the game look and play better than ever.”Green Hell VR ScreensIn our review, we said that Moss: Book II is an “exemplary sequel” that “boasts a greater level of variety, both thematically and in design” over its predecessor, but pointed out that its “exclusive availability on the PSVR’s now noticeably outdated tech holds it back more than anything else.” With the game now headed to Quest 2 next month, perhaps we’ll see it fully capitalize on its potential.Billy Givens is a freelance writer at IGN.
