The era of foldable smartphones is well into its fourth year, and one of the biggest disadvantages for the versions with a vertical hinge is the size of the whole device. This is likely going to change this summer because Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold4, weighing just 254 grams.
The information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known leakster with detailed information about the Samsung ecosystem. They claim the previous rumors about the weight of 258g and 260g are not accurate, and the upcoming Fold will be the lightest ever, about 5% lighter than the Z Fold 3.
The lightest foldable of this form factor is currently the Mate Xs 2 – it is 255 grams, technically more than the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold4. However, during our hands-on session at the global launch, we established that weight is a non-issue for such a big handset.
