CD Projekt has provided a brief update on its new Witcher game. The research phase on The Witcher 4 (not its official name) has now concluded, and developer CD Projekt Red is ready to move forward with development.CD Projekt, which only recently revealed that a new Witcher game was in the works, gave an update on the game’s progress in a news post that looked back on the company’s first quarter of 2022. CD Projekt’s Piotr Nielubowicz also provided a little more information in a developer update video, revealing that The Witcher 4 had entered into pre-production.”We have recently wrapped up the research phase, which means the project has now progressed to pre-production, and we’ve begun to capitalize development expenses related to this new game,” Nielubowicz said. “We are very eager to revisit the universe which has shaped our history to such an extent,” CEO Adam Kiciński added in the news post.With The Witcher 4 only just entering pre-production, it’s safe to assume that we won’t be seeing this one for quite a while yet. CD Projekt Red announced the new Witcher game back in March, revealing that the developer had dropped its REDengine and would develop the new title using Unreal Engine 5.
