WolfEye Studios has announced its upcoming dark fantasy western, Weird West, which mixes third-person simulation with Pigmen, Gunslingers, and more weirdly wonderful things when it launches on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this fall.Published by Devolver Digital — yeah, you know where this is going — and developed by WolfEye Studios, Weird West is a new darker fantasy twist on the famed western tales. You’ll play through five characters’ journeys, each very different from the last, in what WolfEye Studios says is a third-person sim. You’ll meet various freakish beings along the way, ranging from Gunslingers and ritual performers to “evil stalking the night” and people cursed with living with odd ailments — such as a half-pig man!The team at WolfEye spoke about two of the journeys over on Xbox Wire to give us a small taste of what’s to come: The Oneirist and Pigman (we told you). The Onirists are future tellers, tasked with protecting the land from its own dark devices. We play as a new recruit that has undergone their first vision, only to see a much darker future than is usually envisioned. We set out with a six-shooter in hand and magical powers at the ready to stop the impending evil. The Pigman’s journey on the other hand is more of a selfish matter: to find the herbert that caused you to become a half-human half-pig thing, and exact some good old fashioned revenge. It’s difficult being a pig-like monstrosity, though, due to everyone you meet wanting to insult your hideous looks, or even call the law to apprehend you. We’re sure you’re better than worrying about what others are squealing about and will trot off on your merry way in search of an oinkment.Weird West is set to release this fall on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
