Following on from the Legends Week event which celebrated one million Pirate Legends, a new Voyage for Pirate Legends is scheduled to arrive later in the month on April 21st. Check out the deep dive video below:Along with the Sea of Thieves achievements, players can also chase the exalted status of Pirate Legend — these Legends are who the new Voyage is aimed at. Lead designer Andrew Preston adds that the Legend of the Veil is a “hybrid between the best bits of Tall Tales: the music, the voice overs, the characters, the storyline, and then it’s the best part of Voyages as well as the kind of infinite replayability and all the randomness of visiting all these different islands and puzzles around the world.” Senior sound designer Katie Tarrant explains that you don’t even all have to be Pirate Legends for the Voyage — you can seek out a Pirate Legend to start the adventure with. In Legends of the Veil, you’re helping the Pirate Lord find the gems of the Veil of the Ancients mask. This Voyage, it seems, is made up of three chapters, with each chapter having you find a new gem to add to the mask, starting a cutscene with the Pirate Lord. Pirate Legends will be busy exploring lost shipwrecks and fighting Phantoms with Ancients. Instead of regular treasure maps, which the team says are already easy for Pirate Legends, there will be maps that are zoomed in on one part of an island as Pirate Legends, who know the game so well, “are the dedicated players who will understand” these maps, according to principal gameplay engineer Chris Marlow. There will also be pictorial maps “where players will get to see images drawn by Sudds.”The devs also describe the fast-paced gameplay experience you’ll face when exploring the shipwreck graveyard: “the player’s objective is to retrieve the key and open the Captain’s cabin and find the Veil Stone and return it to their ship,” but it seems there will be all sorts of distracting rewards too. On haunted islands, meanwhile, Belle will help you search for a Veil Stone, and you’ll fight Phantoms with the help of Ancients. The third chapter will be a “huge epic encounter” — you can check out the giant lightning tornado in the video above. Lastly, there will be new Pirate Legend cosmetics: a Veil of the Ancients ship set, Veil of the Ancients weapons, and Veil of the Ancients costume.Legends of the Veil arrives on April 21st.
