I have reviewed a couple of the Aura digital photo frames now, they are probably the best quality options on the market, but they can be quite expensive, with the Aura Mason Luxe costing £230.
If you are looking for something more affordable, Amazon has dozens of options. Many of these appear to be white label products that are based on the Frameo platform.
The AEEZO 9-inch photo frame is one of the most affordable options on the market with an RRP of £100 and currently a £10 off voucher available on Amazon.

Set Up
The AEEZO is basically just a low-end Android tablet without any apps or Google services.
I noticed that some Amazon reviews criticise this because it requires power at all times. It seemed like a ridiculous criticism, but none of the marketing images show any power cable, so it is perhaps easy to assume that this may be battery powered.
All the set up is done on the device itself with a touchscreen display. You just need to go through the basic set up process, which includes connecting to your 2.4Ghz WiFi network.
At the end of the process, you will be told to add a friend, which provides you with a registration code to be used with the Frameo App.
In Use
With this basically being a cheap tablet, the overall experience is similar.
One of the main advantages of this frame is that it has 11GB of usable onboard storage, and you can import photos directly from the USB port or SD card slot. For anyone that dislikes having to sign up for apps to manage things, this is going to be a major selling point. There are also no privacy concerns similar to the ones raised with Aura frames.
Perhaps the only negative about the above is that the frame doesn’t seem to automatically show images from a USB, you have to import them to the internal storage.
On the downside, this is a cheap Android tablet.
Up close, the frame is very plasticy, being significantly lower quality than the Aura frames I have reviewed. However, taking a step back, you can’t really tell.
However, the display is also lower quality, this is just a generic touchscreen IPS display with a reflective surface.
No digital photo frame can replicate the same effect as a normal frame-mounted photo, but Aura frames do a pretty good job with a matte display that automatically adjusts brightness based on the environment.
You can dial down the brightness, and you can set up sleep modes so the overall performance can be tweaked, but it just doesn’t quite replicate the natural photo frame look many people may want.
It is not too bad, though, the images do look good, and the appearance of the frame and image is good when you factor in the affordable nature of this frame.
I put this in our hallway, where it works well, but I wouldn’t really use this in a bedroom or even in my living room (even when using the sleep modes).
Price and Alternative Options
The AEEZO 9-inch photo frame is one of the most affordable options on the market with an RRP of £100 and currently a £10 off voucher available on Amazon.
In the US, they also have a new 2K 10-inch model priced from $130, and you can import this to the UK for just $13, which would work out as just £106.
The Aura Carver is £190 RRP, currently £150, or the Aura Mason is £190 RRP and £170 currently. In my opinion, the Aura is far superior with the frame design and material looking more premium and with a superior matte display and automatic brightness. The only downside is the requirement to use the Aura app and some of the privacy concerns over the smart features (which you can switch off).
Nixplay is probably the other best known brand on Amazon. I have not used any of these, some of the products are currently out of stock, and the 10” models cost a bit more than this AEEZO.
Overall
The AEEZO Frameo WiFi Digital Picture Frame is one of the cheapest options on Amazon, and if you have realistic expectations, then it is a good digital photo frame.
While the build quality is a little cheap, you can’t really tell unless you look up close. The overall aesthetic is good, and images look good in the frame, but the reflective IPS display is a bit like looking at a computer screen.
Usability and privacy are excellent, you don’t need to mess around with apps if you don’t want, you can copy files to a USB then copy them over to the frame.
Overall, considering the affordable nature of this frame, I think it is a great option.
