In total, 24 teams will take part in the event, such as notable names within the esports and PUBG scene like TSM FTX, Nigma Galaxy, GodLike Esports, as well as 7Sea Esports. According to the release, the event will also be broadcasted in six languages: Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil.

Shiva Nandy, CEO and Founder of Skyesports, commented: “The BGMI esports ecosystem is growing rapidly and the involvement of brands like Gillette and Ampverse is a testament to that.

“We are thrilled to be producing the Gillette 7Sea Invitational with the top 24 teams from across the country and look forward to broadcasting top-notch action to thousands of fans from across the country.”

7Sea is owned by Southeast Asian esports firm Ampverse after purchasing the Indian-based organisation in 2021. Some of the company’s other notable brands include Vietnamese organisation SBTC Esports and Thai mobile esports team Bacon Time.

Jenny Hall, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Ampverse, stated: “We’re delighted to see 7Sea and Gillette come together and host this exciting invitational event produced by our friends at Skyesports.

“This lively format will feature the leading teams in India and is sure to showcase the best of the best of Indian esports talent.”

Over the last few years, Gillette has taken part in a variety of partnerships within the esports space. This includes a collegiate initiative with CSL Esports in 2020 as well as a streamer project called the Gillette Gaming Alliance last year.

Esports Insider says: In order for BGMI’s scene to continually grow, it’s important that more opportunities are made available within the region. As such, the Gillette 7Sea Invitational is a great initiative. When purchasing 7Sea, Ampverse highlighted its intention to bolster the Indian esports scene and the creation of a tournament, alongside a notable brand in Gillette, certainly highlights this ambition.
