Scaventurez Review – A True Puzzle Quest

Byadmin

Mar 12, 2022

In a lot of ways, Scaventurez is the polar opposite of last week’s big release, Puzzle Quest 3. They share similar match-stuff RPG mechanics, but Scaventurez doesn’t try to hold your hand. You need to explore, figure things out for yourself and see what works.

In a lot of ways that makes it a far more entertaining and engrossing experience. But it can also be a little confusing, and overwhelming, when you’re first trying to get to grips with things. It’s definitely worth sticking with it, though.

The game sees you crawling through a series of spooky dungeons, getting in fights, asking for directions and trying to find some hidden treasure. The levels are randomly generated, and there are different characters to pick from once you’ve completed one.

Everything is designed to keep you on your toes. You’ll get more powerful, but then that character will need to have a rest, meaning you’re starting from the bottom rung again. You can collect spirits to help you out, equip powerful gear and learn new skills.

The fights are controlled with quick-paced matching sections. There are gems along the bottom of the screen, and you need to connect them together to attack your enemies. The colors of the gems correspond with the colors of your characters.

You can swap between different attacks, buffs and debuffs, and the more you poke around in the mechanics of the game, the more tactics you’re going to discover. But that’s the thing – you mostly have to discover them for yourself.

Scaventurez doesn’t pull its punches. It’s not super challenging, but it isn’t the easiest game to get into, either. Our advice? Stick with it, and you’ll find a game that slowly but surely becomes your new addiction.
