Gamescom is returning for 2022 with an in-person event in Cologne, Germany, as well as an “extensive digital program” between August 24th and August 28th — it’ll also be a climate-friendly event.Koelnmesse and the Game association have announced that after two years of digital-only events, Gamescom is returning later this year as an in-person convention. The event will lean into its experience over the last couple of years to offer fans an “extensive digital program” alongside the live festivities. For the in-person event, Koelnmesse will be implementing tried-and-tested health and hygiene measures by way of improved admission management, digital queue management, and extra-wide aisles or limited ticket allotments.2022 will also be the first year that the Gamescom goes green project will be implemented, which is “designed to be climate-neutral over the medium and long term through the reduction and avoidance of CO2 emissions and in the short term through carbon offset.””All Gamescom fans and partners have been waiting for this for two years: Gamescom is finally returning to the Cologne exhibition halls, and thus also the unique festival feeling we had all been missing so much.
