Xbox console sales in the Japanese market have surpassed 2.3 million in the last 20 years, according to a new Japanese magazine report — 1.6 million of which are Xbox 360 sales.According to the figures published in the recent Weekly Famitsu magazine (thanks, VGC) that celebrates the last 20 years of Xbox in Japan, Microsoft has sold 2.3 million consoles to Japanese consumers — 2,345,975, to be exact. While Microsoft’s console sales are far behind that of its competitors in Japan — which has seen one million PS5 and 20 million Nintendo Switch consoles sold so far — it’s a market that has always been a difficult nut to crack for Xbox. The recent figures, however, show Xbox Series X|S sales have already overtaken the Xbox One’s lifetime sales by a considerable amount, although it’s still far, far behind that of the Xbox 360. Progress is progress, though, and things are beginning to look far more positive for Microsoft. Here are Weekly Famitsu’s figures for each console’s lifetime sales as of February 6th, 2022, and the top-selling Xbox Games:ConsolesXbox – 472,992Xbox 360 – 1,616,128Xbox One – 114,831Xbox Series X/S – 142,024Top-selling Xbox gamesThis news follows Microsoft’s recent announcement that it’s launching Xbox Wire in Japan to celebrate the platform’s 20th anniversary.
