Known modder and YouTuber Speclizer has managed to datamine information pertaining to The Last of Us Part II‘s multiplayer. Naughty Dog hasn’t officially talked about the standalone experience yet but assets left in the game’s files, which may or may not be placeholders, give us an idea of what the developer has been toying with. What the files describe as level 1 armor is police armor of sorts, level 2 armor looks like swat armor, and level 3 sees the player camouflaged. Since multiplayer doesn’t exist yet, Speclizer applied the outfits to Ellie in the single-player mode in the video below. The Last of Us 2 multiplayer may have a class systemDataminers also uncovered six “backpacks” labeled assault, melee, sniper, stealth, support, and tactical, which suggests that The Last of Us 2’s multiplayer will have a class-based system. However, Speclizer wasn’t able to load those assets into the game. If possible, they’ll show off the backpacks as well.A third interesting finding reveals that Naughty Dog created a model for a jetpack. Speclizer has theorized that multiple armor levels as well as the jetpack support previous reports that The Last of Us Part 2’s multiplayer may feature a battle royale mode.Found a model named “jet-pack” in TLOU 2. Multiplayer armour with levels and now a jetpack? this is looking more and more like a battle royale. pic.twitter.com/dmWuuOmvXf— Speclizer (@Speclizer_) February 25, 2022The only thing Naughty Dog has officially confirmed is that The Last of Us 2’s multiplayer is still in development alongside other projects and it’ll be shown off when it’s ready. In the meantime, this is all we have to go by. We’ll update our readers when we have more information. In other news, 2002 action RPG Enclave is being re-released this summer, and Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart grabbed four trophies at DICE Awards 2022.
