Ubisoft has outlined its 2022 plans for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, adding that Year 7 will be “the most ambitious year that we have ever had.”For the first time in three years, Rainbow Six Siege will be getting new maps. The first season of Year 7 is Demon Veil — there’s no start date yet, but Ubisoft has already outlined what’s included: the Japanese Defender Azami, a new map set in Ireland, and Team Deathmatch as a permanent game mode. Azami will be equipped with Kiba Barriers, which “are a powerful new tool for shaping the battlefield to your advantage by creating bulletproof cover almost anywhere you desire.” Azami’s gadgets will be barbed wire and the impact grenade, with the 9X19VSN and ACS12 available as a primary weapon and the D-50 as a secondary weapon. Season 2 will follow with a Belgian Operator and a Team Deathmatch map set in Greece. When Season 3 arrives, it will bring an Operator from Singapore and a new competitive map. The final Operator of Year 7 will be from Colombia.Ubisoft will also be taking a look at how it handles issues like player behaviour. In Season 1, the team will introduce “improvements towards detecting grieving and player disconnects” while Season 2 goes on to deal with players who misuse friendly fire. Season 3 will bring reporting options in Match Replay. Reputation Scores will be added in Season 4, offering rewards “and sanctions to block repeat offenders.”Ubisoft is also bringing a number of updates for console players which will include aim control personalisation, “new controller input presets,” and field of view settings. There’s no release date for Year 7 yet, but we’ll be sure to update you when we learn more.
