GTA 5 Xbox Series X|S version launches in March with ray tracing, 60fps support, and more

Rockstar has announced that the Xbox Series X|S version of Grand Theft Auto V will launch on March 15th and has also confirmed a few new details about the current-gen release. As revealed over on Rockstar’s Newswire, GTA 5 and GTA Online for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will feature new graphics modes and will support up to 4K resolution and 60fps. The developer says that textures and draw distances have also been upgraded with the current-gen versions, and there are new HDR options, as well as ray tracing. We can also expect faster loading times thanks to new console technology. Those who have been playing GTA 5 and GTA Online on Xbox One will be able to transfer both their GTA 5 Story Mode progress and their current GTA Online characters and progression to Xbox Series X|S “with a one-time migration at launch.” Rockstar also notes that a new standalone version of GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will also debut at launch.GTA Online is also getting a bunch of improvements. With current-gen versions, Rockstar says you will finally be able to skip the GTA 5 Story Mode prologue before entering Online, and there will be a new GTA Online tutorial. Players who are new to GTA Online will enter the Career Builder and will get instant access to “their choice of one of four illicit businesses — Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner — and a sizeable GTA$ windfall to help select a property, high-end vehicle, and the firepower required to kickstart their enterprise.” Returning players will also have the option to restart their characters and take advantage of the Career Builder at any time. Also included with the Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online is the new Hao’s Special Works auto shop, which is located within the LS Car Meet. This will allow you to upgrade select vehicles for “elite driving performance that takes full advantage of the upgraded power of new console hardware.”The developer also confirmed GTA 6 is currently in development.Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for Xbox Series X|S launch on March 15th.
