To kick off the new year, professional storm chaser and photographer Mike Olbinski has rounded up his favorite photographs from 2021. The photographs showcase incredible imagery across North America and highlight the incredible storms and landscapes mother nature delivered throughout the year.
We asked Mike what his thoughts were on his work throughout 2021 and he shared the following statement:
‘2021 was a fantastic one for storm photography, at least, for me personally. The previous two years had definitely been on the quieter side, from the spring plains tornado season to the monsoon in Arizona. I chase both, from late April until early October, and last year was definitely the most active in awhile. I put about 40k miles on my new truck and chased well over 70 days across states like Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota and of course, my home state of Arizona.
These are some of my favorite images of the year! I hope you enjoy them. Also, if you are a photographer and captured some sick storms in 2021, please check out the new photo contest I started last year called Storm Photos of the Year…we had a blast of an inaugural contest and I think this year will be even better!’
