Sniper Elite 5’s latest cinematic trailer reveals the game’s new game mode called Invasion, which allows players to drop into other peoples’ Campaigns as an Axis sniper.With the knowledge that Sniper Elite 5 is launching into Xbox Game Pass, we can only imagine how crazy this new mode will be, although Invasion Mode will be an optional feature — so if the thought of having another player hunting you down while you’re on a killing spree doesn’t take your fancy, then keeping it switched off might be what you need. Having the mode enabled, though, will earn you additional XP as a flat bonus, so it’s swings and roundabouts. The aim of the game is to enter another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper, set to work tracking them down, and then eliminate them. You’ll be able to enter both single-player and co-op sessions, with the latter dishing out even more rewards. Once you’ve entered a game you can instruct nearby soldiers to “Stay Sharp,” increasing their awareness for the enemy player, as well as tag their last known position on the map when you’ve spotted them. Allied players, however, can locate your last known position by finding scattered invasion phones around the map — warning, the phones can be booby-trapped. Successfully hunting down the Allied player(s) will earn you rewards in the way of weapons, items, and skin unlocks. Allied players that manage to take out the invading Axis player will be able to earn weapon and character skins on top of their XP bonus.We still don’t have a release date for Sniper Elite 5, but you can be sure we’ll let you know once we do.
