In the third week of 2022 the most popular news articles were Samsung-related. We got a bunch of Galaxy S22-related leaks, but also an official announcement as Samsung unveiled the Exynos 2200 chipset. It will come with a brand new Xclipse GPU co-developed with AMD and will power the flagship lineup in certin markets.

Along with all the Galaxy S22, the Android community has a growing interest in the upcoming mid-range Galaxy A53 5G as it once again pops up on our weekly recap.

On Apple’s side of the fence the most popular article was the iPhone 13’s inability to apply noise cancellation during calls. Other than that, we also got a bit more info regarding the upcoming iPhone SE handsets scheduled for this and next year. And apparently, this year’s non-Pro iPhone 14 models will miss on the ProMotion displays.

The Oppo Reno6 Lite and the vivo Y55 5G made their official debuts. And we may have gotten our first look at the Oppo Reno8 series and the Find X5 Pro as well.

Here’s the full list of highlights during this week and see you in seven days!

The images also come with a recap of the specs leaked so far.

The feature was available on previous generation iPhones for over a decade.

We’d advise against reading too much into those at this point though.

This is the first mobile chipset with hardware-accelerated ray tracing and variable rate shading on mobile.

Looks like faster charging bricks aren’t making it to Samsung’s best selling device this year.

And no Snapdragon for the European market.

It will have the same design as its predecessor.

The model numbers for this specific platform appeared in Italy and Ireland.

Renders are taken straight from Oppo-filed patent documents.

Have a look at the S22+ in black, white and green.

The phone’s camera mound will be branded with MariSilicon, Oppo’s first NPU.

We are expecting Redmi to launch at least two smartphones next Wednesday.

If OLED prices go down significantly, the iPhone SE+ 5G will likely adopt an OLED panel.

The phone was announced for the Chinese market in December.

The date for the Unpacked event is for the Chinese launch, which may or may not be the same as the global one.

Most regions might be getting the Snapdragon versions.

The device was introduced in Mexico and is already up for grabs.

It’s up for grabs in Taiwan.

It also packs a 120Hz AMOLED screen.

The CAD design left the front blank though – will Apple release a phone with a forehead and chin in 2022 or will it give it a notch?

The company was #2 the previous quarter, during the October-December period it was propelled by strong iPhone sales.

The SE+ model will continue using the old iPhone 8-derrived design, but will finally upgrade from LTE to 5G.

Apple may implement both punch-hole and pill-shaped cutouts on this year’s Pro models.

Available in select countries from January 22.

The third-gen iPhone SE and the fifth-gen iPad Air are expected this year.
