Global interactive video company Kiswe and content distributer Rock Entertainment Holdings have announced a collaboration to localise esports tournaments for broadcast in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

As a result of the partnership, the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 3 Finals – Challengers Hong Kong/ Taiwan will be broadcast live on Rock Entertainment’s Blue Ant Extreme linear TV channel. The July broadcast will be localised specifically for APAC audiences. Per a release, additional esports broadcasts will follow.

Kiswe provides tools that allow event organisers to create and scale personalised content in any language. One such tool is the ability to allow esports producers and casters to work remotely without the need for onsite production.

Kiswe CEO, Mike Schabel commented on the partnership: “The globalisation of esports also necessitates its localisation and simple translation is not enough. Kiswe Studio can adapt esports games from anywhere so that even the most subtle cultural nuances are captured for any region, delivering the most enjoyable gaming experiences.”

The two companies previously collaborated earlier this year to broadcast Stages one and two of the 2021 VCT: Challengers Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Beatrice Lee, Asia Pacific CEO for Rock Entertainment Holdings, added: “We are excited to be working with Kiswe to bring VALORANT and other live and localised esports broadcasts to our viewers across Asia. This partnership is about delivering the content our esports fans love in a personalised and inclusive way.”

Esports Insider says: APAC is the largest gaming region in the world, so it makes sense to have more localised content available for broadcast. Subtitles just aren’t as effective for reaching audiences as localisation.
