Seo Young-jae, Senior Vice President and Head of IT at LG Electronics, spoke on the deal: “We are thrilled to be partnering with LEC and to announce that LG UltraGear will be playing such a pivotal role in what is genuinely one of the world’s most popular esports competitions.

“We also look forward to seeing our monitors put through their paces by the league’s top players, and to getting to spend some time with LEC’s growing fanbase. LG will continue to support and celebrate esports culture and deliver products that can meet the needs of the most demanding gamers.”

The 2022 LEC Spring split is set to commence on January 14th. The competition was originally going to take place at Riot Games’ Berlin studio however due to COVID-19 restrictions, teams will compete remotely until it is safe to do so.

Esports Insider says: LG is continuing to increase its esports involvement and this collaboration with the LEC is a statement of intent from the electronics company. Joining forces with one of the largest esports tournaments in Europe is likely to increase exposure for its UltraGear brand. Depending on the deal’s success, it could open the door for further partnership opportunities with Riot Games.
