Discord integration with PS5 and PS4 looks like it will be arriving soon. As spotted by Discord dataminer and Reddit user u/jankesjt, a PlayStation Network icon can be found alongside icons for other social networks in the Connections section of the Discord beta, suggesting the update could soon be heading to the main Discord client. When Is The PS5 and PS4 Discord Integration Release Date?Sony had already announced they would be partnering with Discord in early 2022. Details on what the integration will do are thin on the ground, although further datamining has revealed script for enabling PlayStation players to display the game they’re playing on their Discord profile. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan had earlier said they wish to “bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.” Many console owners believe the upcoming integration is the reason for the removal of the Communities feature on PlayStation 4 in March 2021.The Connections section allows players to link their Discord profile to several other social networks. The PlayStation Network icon will sit alongside options to connect to Battle.net, Facebook, GitHub, Reddit, Spotify, Steam, Twitch, Twitter, Xbox, and YouTube. So far the icon only appears in files that are currently unused in the Discord beta, but its existence certainly suggests the integration is on schedule for early 2022.In other news, recent sales figures have revealed the PlayStation 5 console has sold ten times more units than the Xbox Series X|S in Japan. In fact, the PS4 console also outsold Microsoft’s latest offering. Elsewhere, the second piece of premium DLC for Far Cry 6, Pagan: Control, will be released next week.[Source: Reddit via mp1st]
