PS5 Sold 10 Times As Many Xbox Series X/S Units In Japan Last Year

According to the latest data from Famitsu, Sony’s PS5 enjoyed a bumper first year in Japan, selling 942,798 units throughout 2021 – ten times the amount of Xbox Series X/S consoles sold in the same time frame.While Nintendo Switch was the dominant platform in Japan last year, selling a whopping 5.3 million units in the country, PS5 still put in a solid performance amidst stock shortages and vastly eclipsed Microsoft’s efforts in Japan.In fact, Xbox Series X/S struggled so much last year that even the PS4 managed to outsell it by just over 8,000 units.It’s worth remembering that Microsoft has traditionally not had much luck in gaining traction in the Japanese market, with Sony and Nintendo pretty much ruling the roost over there.
