We breakdown which heroes work best with Daedalus.
Daedalus is one of the best items for the late game; which is why so many carries decide to go for it. There are several items in Dota 2 tailored for the late game, and Daedalus is definitely one of them.
Apart from the Divine Rapier, Daedalus is the item that provides tons of damage and the ability to inflict critical strikes. However, it does not give any stats. Which means that it is not suitable for every hero. In fact, most Daedaluses are a part of the so-called glass-cannon build; meaning that the hero relies on doing as much damage as possible without taking hits.
While it’s true that this item can be made to work for most heroes, it definitely works better on a few specific options. With that being said, here are some picks that are a safe bet with a Daedalus.
Sniper
The first hero that is known for purchasing Daedalus a lot more often than others is Sniper. Despite being one of the most fragile heroes in the game, Sniper is capable of slicing through his enemies like a hot knife through butter. He can easily kill most heroes in a few attacks; once he gets some of his must-have items (including this one).
It should be noted that this isn’t an early purchase. Most Sniper players purchase this item during the late game because the hero needs a couple of additional items to be effective. Power Treads and Hurricane Pike are often early buys for a Sniper building to Daedalus.
Kunkka
Kunkka is one of the many heroes in the game that is capable of filling in several roles. Apart from being popular support, the hero can also do wonders in the mid lane. This is where people purchase Daedalus because a critical strike + Tidebringer can result in a one-shot, especially for some support heroes.
Like Sniper, Kunkka players go for this item after having other things, such as a Shadow Blade. This makes Daedalus even more dangerous.
Weaver
Even though the Weaver support was popular a few months ago, the hero is known as being one of the best carries in the game. He might not be the fastest farmer in Dota 2, but he can do a lot of damage in a 1v1 scenario. Besides purchasing Diffusal Blade and/or Manta Style, Weaver needs Daedalus to kill the support heroes as fast as possible.
Unfortunately, this item is expensive, which means that most Weaver players can’t get it until the late game arrives. Daedalus helps the hero become a lot more dangerous against the other late-game monsters that he might have to go up against.
Ember Spirit
Ember’s old-school glass-cannon build had players first purchasing a Battlefury, Daedalus, and even Rapier. And some people still prefer these items over the “modern” ones. Consequently, many Ember players continue to use Daedalus all the time.
Interestingly enough, this is one of the few heroes who can often purchase two Deadaluses. Although the critical strike percentage doesn’t stack, each item can crit on its own. Which is always welcome for Ember Spirit and his Sleight of Fist.
Medusa
As one of the best late-game heroes in the game, Medusa is among the few names that can utilize Daedalus to its full potential. Medusa is notorious for her tanking capabilities, which makes her ideal for the late game. However, she doesn’t do as much damage as other late-game monsters. That’s one of the reasons why Medusa players prefer to get Daedalus or Divine Rapier or even both. Needless to say, both items work really well together, and Medusa is among the few heroes that can use them.
Sven
Sven is a hero that people often forget about because they prefer to get agility carries. Although this character has his drawbacks, Sven is known for his insane damage capabilities, thanks to his ultimate. Once he uses it, the enemy team tries to avoid him because he can easily two-shot most opponents. That’s one of the reasons why Daedalus works really well for Sven — he can do north of 1.5k crits, even with a few items under his belt.
Windranger
WR is one of the popular supports in the current meta, but this doesn’t mean the hero can do wonders in the mid lane. Her ultimate and Shake Shot makes her one of the most dangerous and unpredictable heroes in the game. A well-placed stun and Focus Fire with Daedalus is usually more than enough to kill a hero in a matter of seconds.
Although some WR players prefer to get this item as fast as possible, others purchase Aghanim’s Scepter before that. It should be noted that WR does not farm as fast as other classic mid laners, such as Shadow Fiend.
Faceless Void
Faceless Void can be an offlaner or a carry; not that this makes a big difference because he usually goes for the same items. Daedalus is definitely not the first item on his list, but it is one of the must-haves if he wants to do as much damage as possible. Combined with Mask of Madness, Faceless Void can deal insane amounts of damage in a matter of seconds and kill at least one hero during his ultimate’s duration.
Templar Assassin
Templar Assassin is a hero that is known for her damage capabilities and the fact that she always purchases Desolator. Although Daedalus is not among the go-to options for TA in every game, it is definitely helpful in situations where she needs to one-shot some enemy heroes. With that being said, most TA players purchase Monkey King Bar because they need the True Strike.
