Paul Rustchynsky, the director of PS4 racer DriveClub, has revealed that he’ll lift the lid on his new project this year, but it won’t be a sequel to existing franchises such as MotorStorm or even a racing game, for that matter.Speaking on Twitter, he wrote:In 2021 we (Avalanche Studios Group) opened a new studio in Liverpool, an exciting moment for me having achieved one of my career goals. In 2022 we’ll get to announce the game we’ve been working on for the past year.To set some expectations, I’m not working on a racing game. So sorry, no DRIVECLUB sequel, MotorStorm successor or ONRUSH offshoot. This is something very different to anything I’ve worked on before.Evolution Studios, the studio responsible for DriveClub before being shuttered by Sony some years ago, has a number of its former employees working at Avalanche Liverpool, although its deviation from the racing genre is somewhat surprising given its long history with the genre.Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – A Total Resource On PlayStation 5Prior to its closure, Evolution Studios had a long-standing history with PlayStation, having rolled out three MotorStorm games for the PS3 between 2006 – 2012, before moving to DriveClub in 2014 for the PS4.[Source- VGC]
