Jan 2, 2022

It’s time to wrap up the last week of 2021 (we have a separate series for the top stories of the entire year).

Xiaomi waited until the very end of the year to announce its 12 series. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro have Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets, while the Xiaomi 12X has a Snapdragon 870. All three have 50MP main cameras, but the 12 Pro’s sensor is the largest at 1/1.28″ type. The Pro also has a 100mAh bigger battery, a bigger 1440p display that’s also variable refresh rate, thanks to 120Hz.

All three Xiaomi 12 phones are available from December 31 in China. We’re still waiting for information on international availability.

Xiaomi also introduced MIUI 13 with improved privacy with a three-step verification process, MIUI 13 Pad for tablets, and deeper integration in mind – between Xiaomi phones, tablets, TV, smart wearables, smart home devices, and the XiaoAI voice assistant. Stable MIUI 13 will begin rolling out from Q1 2022 for a lot of devices.

We’re also closing in on the Galaxy S21 FE unveil, which is expected sometime in January. We even saw an unboxing video of the unreleased phone.

That’s it for the top stories of week 52 and 2021. It was a blast, it happened fast, and we hope you’re still here when the dust settles on January 1! Have a good one!

All three phones will be available in China from December 31.

The phone will have three 50 MP cameras on the back.

The phone is up for reservations, pre-orders will begin next month.

The user interface will remain on Android 12, just like the predecessor MIUI 12.5.

The lucky buyer posted videos and a few sample photos.

Oppo might in fact be launching three Find X5 devices soon.

It’s equipped with a 50MP main cam and boots HiOS 8 on top of Android 11.

Samsung will match Apple’s elite with a 1TB Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The first batch of Xiaomi devices is scheduled to get the new MIUI interface in Q1 2022.

This is likely to be identical to the Galaxy A53 5G, save for a larger battery capacity.

First sales in China start on December 31.

It’s not expected to arrive any time soon though.

Oppo’s latest entry-level A-series phone is now official.

It will fill up from 0 to 85% in one hour.

One will come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the second with Dimensity 9000, the third is yet to be revealed.

S stands for Super and Strong, MIUI 13 will have different versions for phones and tablets.

The screen will come in at 6.7-inches and will be supplied by Samsung Display.

The Google Play issues have been worked out.
