Dallas Cowboys clinching NFC East on Tuesday remains incredibly unlikely

While they technically have a chance to clinch the NFC East, don’t expect for the Dallas Cowboys to lock up their division tonight.

The Dallas Cowboys are going to have a hard time clinching the NFC East Tuesday evening. They’ve got a chance, technically, but it’s going to take an odd ending between the Washington Football Team and the Philadelphia Eagles to actually make that possibility a reality.

While it’s not possible for many different types of sporting events to end in a tie, it occasionally happens in the NFL. From time to time, teams will end up going into overtime and then ending up with neither team being able to come out on top.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys and their fans, Dallas needs a tie to happen so that the Cowboys can clinch their division Tuesday evening.

With Philadelphia up by 10 points in the fourth quarter, that’s probably not happening.

Dallas Cowboys: Will Washington Football Team, Philadelphia Eagles help Cowboys clinch NFC East?

But, while Washington and Philadelphia likely won’t just hand the Cowboys the NFC East on a silver platter, Dallas is so close to winning the division that this likely doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of things.

Sure, the Cowboys’ have been dinged up a bit and are struggling some on offense, but they’re still the best team that the NFC East has to offer.

They’ll probably lock the division up in the coming weeks, but things may not be super smooth for the Cowboys if they don’t take things seriously. Dallas will play Washington on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Jan. 2, and then Philadelphia on Jan. 9.
