Dec 17, 2021

In celebration of the theatrical release of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the return of some of Spidey’s most iconic villains from throughout the years, we thought it would be the perfect time to look back at some of our favorite web-slingers from Spider-Man’s long history in comics, television, games, and film. However, we thought it would be even better if YOU helped us decide who the best version of Spider-Man of all time is.Are you a fan of the comic version of Peter Parker from Earth-616? Or is your top pick either Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland from the big screen? We’ve selected 96 of the best versions of Spider-Man to “Face-Off” against each other two at a time. Will you choose Miles Morales from Into the Spider-Verse over Spider-Ham? Or Spider-Man Noir over Miguel O’hara’s Spider-Man 2099? The choice is yours…(And don’t forget, you can skip a Face-Off round if you don’t know a character by just refreshing the page so new characters appear.)Click here to start voting in the Spider-Man Face-Off!What Is a Face-Off?Have you played Spider-Man?YESNOLike the name suggests, a Face-Off pits two things against one another and you decide which one is the superior of the two. In this case, you are voting to determine who the best version of Spider-Man is. It’s possible to see certain characters multiple times so you can keep voting for your favorites to ensure they get ranked higher than the rest. IGN’s resident team of Spidey experts pre-selected 96 variations of Spider-Man from comics, television, games, and film for you to choose from. These get randomly paired up and each time you pick a winner, it’s tracked. How Is the Winner Determined? When voting ends on December 22, we tally up the total number of “wins” and “losses” each version of Spider-Man has, and create a ranked list based on your choices that will go live on December 23. The Spider-Man that won the most matchups will be crowned the “winner,” and in the event of a tied number of “wins,” the character with the least “losses” will take the top spot. If you continue to keep voting for your favorite web-head, they’ll have a better chance of ranking high on the list. You can vote as many times as you want until the Face-Off closes. How Do I Know When I’ve Clicked Through Everything? It’s difficult to know when you’ve seen every variation of Spider-Man included because they are matched randomly and there are so many possible match-ups. Playing until you vote for all your favorites or ensuring that certain characters don’t get in the winner’s circle are different options you can take with a Face-Off. By deciding the winner throughout all these match-ups, you’re ensuring that your picks for the best version of Spider-Man will have a fighting chance to reach the top of the list.Which Versions of Spider-Man Have You Included? The list of Spider-Man variations has been decided by IGN staff, and we’ve tried to include a wide variety of web-slingers from Spider-Man’s long history in comics, television, and film. Any version of Spider-Man was fair game, except for those few times someone was simply impersonating Spider-Man and, although it may be obvious, this goes way beyond just the best Peter Parker, as many different types of people from all walks of life have taken on the role of the friendly neighborhood hero!Click here to start voting in the Spider-Man Face-Off!Ranking the Spider-Man MoviesFor more, check out our Spider-Man: No Way Home review and our No Way Home ending and end credits explained.Adam Bankhurst is a news writer for IGN.
