We’ll soon have a chance to explore Rebellion’s open-world survival game for ourselves, and ahead of that exciting time, the developer has revealed Atomfall’s game length, although it doesn’t account for players checking every nook and cranny.Rebillion says completionists can stretch Atomfall’s playthrough time “a long way”Rebellion has revealed the average playtime for its upcoming Xbox survival gamePlayers chasing the Atomfall achievements will be able to stretch that “a long way”Atomfall launched into Xbox Game Pass on March 27, 2025We’ll finally be able to explore Rebellion’s post-apocalyptic Britain next week, and now we know how long it’ll take to blast through the story. In an interview with IGN, Rebellion art director Ryan Greene said the average Atomfall playthrough is “probably 25-ish hours,” but completionists delving into everything can increase that time “a long way.”Considering the game doesn’t have a traditional mission system and relies on the player finding leads, we expected a story playthrough to be a little longer than 25 hours. We’re pleased though, as that is a sweet spot for the majority of players. That being said, an Atomfall trophy does confirm that you can beat the game and escape the quarantine zone in under five hours. Of course, this means you’ll likely have to speed through everything the game has to offer, so it probably won’t be the most enjoyable way to play. Greene is also “fairly certain” you can play through the entire game without having to kill anyone. “I’ve made it about nine hours in, probably close to halfway running at a pretty fast dev play speed, and killed no one,” Greene said. “I’m fairly certain you can do it and there’s no gating of having to kill anyone ever.”In our own interview with Rebellion lead programmer Richard May, we were told that the game’s launch into Game Pass is an “exciting challenge.” The interview was part of our Atomfall preview, where we had a chance to play the survival game for ourselves, meeting several odd NPCs, upsetting mutated wasps, and dying a lot along the way.As we inch ever closer to its release, we’re learning even more about Rebellion’s intriguing game. Last week, a lengthy gameplay showcase gave us a deeper look at Atomfall, and what the game feels like when it’s played by a “seasoned player.” Atomfall launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, and joins Game Pass games on March 27, 2025.
