Dead Rails Body Armor Guide
So let’s explain the facts about armor in the game, and the different ways to acquire it.
About Armor
Armor is an item introduced in later Alpha updates of Dead Rails which lets you increase your overall defence against attacks, taking less damage overall. There are four different pieces of armor available, and you can only wear one of each kind at a time.
- Helmet
- Torso Armor
- Left Shoulder
- Right Shoulder
Having all the armored parts gives you the best personal defense possible, though single pieces are a positive impact.
How To Get Armor
There are several ways you can get armor pieces. Let’s run over a few of them.
Buying
You can sometimes find armor pieces for sale in General Stores in Forts. They’re relatively expensive.
- Helmet – $100
- Torso Armor – $150
- Left Shoulder – $75
- Right Shoulder – $75
Scavenging
You can find armor in various different structures along the tracks. These can include ruined stores, ruined Sherriff offices, Tesla Labs and Outlaw Camps. These can be equipped immediately, or stored via the Sack item.
Class Starting Equipment
The special stating class, the Ironclad comes equipped with a full set of armor when starting a run, at the cost of movement speed. You can purchase the class from the Tailor in the Lobby, at the pretty hefty cost of 100 Bonds, though once you’ve got the class you can keep using it, and never have to go without armor again.
