HoYoverse has dropped a new update for Tears of Themis called the Ballad of the Dunes. It’s actually a collab event where they’re teaming up with Gansu Province’s Culture & Tourism. The crossover blends the charm of detective work with the rich heritage of Dunhuang, a Chinese city on the edge of the Gobi Desert.
What Does Ballad of the Dunes Bring to Tears of Themis?
The crossover is about history, romance and mystery wrapped in the sands of time. You’ll get to solve mysteries while being surrounded by ancient Silk Road vibes. Let me give you the new stuff that the Ballad of the Dunes is bringing to Tears of Themis.
The event introduces four new MR cards featuring Luke, Artem, Vyn and Marius. Each of them is styled after different elements of Dunhuang’s culture. You’ll see flying apsaras, intricate murals, and even the classic pipa that is played behind the back.
It’s just like the ancient performers depicted in the Mogao Caves. The Silk Road was a melting pot of art, culture and trade way back during the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC–8 AD). So, HoYoverse is giving it a digital makeover in Tears of Themis.
Each card tells its own unique story. They are Luke’s “In the Footsteps of Silk,” Artem’s “Serenade of the Soul,” Vyn’s “Reverberation Through Time” and Marius’s “Void of Creation.” The cards come with Private Messages that dive deep into a thousand-year journey.

What Are the Rewards?
From February 13th to February 20th, 2025, you can grind for Camel Bells, S-Chips and a bunch of other goodies just by completing event tasks. The main challenge involves flipping cells on a game board to uncover rewards.
The ultimate prize in this event of Tears of Themis is the pack of Ballad of the Dunes MR cards. You get to pick one of the four MR cards as your final reward in each round. If you manage to flip 100 cells, you’ll score the exclusive Celebration – Dunes Namecard.
