Fisch Orca Migration Event
Similar to the Shark Events, you’ll only find Orcas during their migrational event spawn. During this, there’s a chance for players to catch one of the several Orcas spawned. As each Orca hooks, one disappears from the pod of swimmers. The event ends 15 minutes after it begins, or when each Orca has been caught.
But, don’t get your hopes up, it isn’t so simple. The event happens hourly per server run-time and notifies in the chatroom. When the migration begins, the Orcas swim in their pods from North to South, starting at 825, 125 and -3250, and ending at 825, 125 and 5100. Unlike any other spawn event in fish, you’ll need to chase the Orcas to keep up with their catch radius. Fortunately, it’s visible with a Fish Radar, but that doesn’t make the catching any easier.
How To Catch an Orca – Preferences
When the event begins, I recommend chasing the pod of swimmers in one of two ways depending on your current situation.
- With Friends – Take turns per Orca spawn and have one friend sail whilst the rest fish overboard in an attempt to catch an Orca.
- Alone – Sail in a small vessel that allows you to stay boarded whilst fishing. This means you can cast your line and sail to stay inside the blue box for the duration of the event.
As for preferences when fishing, you’ll fare better in obtainment if you use Shark Head bait. The Orcas are an Exotic rarity fish, so don’t expect to get lucky for simply meeting their sole requirement. Time, Weather and Season have no impact on when is best to catch an Orca. Fortunately, they’re not too heavy, with the highest weight recorded sitting at just under 4,000 KG, meaning most rods can withstand their weight.
