There’s obviously some cross-genre shenanigans going on here, but you can’t deny that it plays a role in both areas. Adventure is bread-and-butter for the Final Fantasy series, and Rebirth absolutely oozes it as you explore a vast open world ripe with unique characters and sumptuously-designed locations. Eschewing the turn-based combat of the 1997 original, Rebirth’s combat is more action-focussed than ever, but also brimming with tactical nuance.
