What Is A Strange Whirlpool?
A Strange Whirlpool is, well, a whirlpool… that’s strange. Jokes aside, it does differ from a regular whirlpool. They appear to have columns of water or light coming out of the top. If you jump into one, you won’t die. Rather than death, you will be taken to Fisch Vertigo!
When Do They Happen?
Although there isn’t a way to make them happen on your server, they do pop up regularly. You’ll know when there is one, as a message saying ‘a strange whirlpool has opened’ will appear on your screen. All you need to do is sail the seas until you find it. They’re easy to spot thanks to the water coming out of them.
Occasionally two strange whirlpools will spawn above each other… which is pretty cool! The same goes for a normal whirlpool spawning on top of a strange whirlpool. This is rare, but if it does happen, it’s best to avoid it, as you will get trapped and drown.
What Can You Catch?
Aside from entering Vertigo, you can also catch things inside of these whirlpools. It goes without saying to not jump into the water to do this. Simply position your boat and cast your line out so it is in the whirlpool.
Apart from catching other ocean fish, you can catch an Isonade inside of a strange whirlpool. These mythical creatures can appear at any time, weather, or season. All you have to do is wait for a whirlpool to open and get fishing! To increase your chances, use Truffle Worm as bait.
Another thing you catch fishing inside a strange whirlpool is The Depths Key. You can also reel these in if you fish inside of Vertigo. Unlike the Isonade, these appear during the day. But have no bait, time, or season preference.
