An indie game showcase that’s impossible to pronounce – but has gone viral among indie devs! – The Game Awards for Games Who Can’t Afford the Game Awards (TGAGWCAGA) is gearing up for the big day on December 13.
Confirmed titles for the TGAGWCAGA 2024 showcase include As We Descend, Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, Weldiver, Jumping Jazz Cats, Spiritfall, and StarVaders. More than 70 titles from indie studios worldwide will make an appearance!
Hansen Liu of Pengonauts Studio and part of the TGAGWCAGA organizing team said the following:
“We initially thought we’d showcase 15 games, tops.
But within days, we had nearly 600 submissions. It was clear that the indie scene was looking for more opportunities to showcase their work.”
Andrea Alvarez, part of the organizing team and Game Manager for Joystick Ventures, added:
“The showcase embraces its absurd name and branding with pride. The acronym is ridiculous, the branding is silly—but that’s part of why people love it.
This kind of humor is what you can expect during the show, but it’s also paired with a lot of heart.”
Be sure to set your clocks and set a reminder! Fans can tune in to TGAGWCAGA 2024 on December 13 at 12pm ET via its official YouTube channel.
TGAGWCAGA will also host a Steam Event Sale from December 13 to December 22. With this Steam, iteration TGAGWCAGA will instead stand for The Great Awards for Games With Creative And Gutsy Aspirations – we can dig it!
This brand-safe version has been designed so the event can bring even more attention to indie titles, all while staying true to the spirit of its OG name: The Game Awards for Games Who Can’t Afford the Game Awards.
Fans can also follow TGAGWCAGA on YouTube, Bluesky, and Twitter/X.
