PS5 Activity Cards Feature Is Broken Right Now

PS5 Activity Cards — one of the most widely advertised features ahead of the console’s launch — don’t seem to work anymore. A while ago, we reported that the ‘Resume Activity’ feature was quietly removed for good after years of lackluster support. Now, the Activity Cards themselves seem pointless.

What’s going on with PS5 Activity Cards?

The PS5 Activity Cards once contained useful information, like players’ completion percentage of an in-game mission or activity, or where players were in a given game the last time they shut it down. Now, a number of games have Activity Cards stuck at 0% progress irrespective of where players are in a given activity or mission.

I am currently experiencing this with Final Fantasy XVI, and have noticed similar complaints from Alan Wake II players. I’m also seeing cards for activities that I’ve already completed, with no useful information. Loading those cards simply takes me to a game’s title screen, but that’s because Sony got rid of the Resume Activity feature altogether.

Then, there are games with Activity Cards that are simply a list of trophies. I’m not sure what the point of that is considering we now have numerous ways to view our trophy progress. The last thing we need are 10 tiles showing us information we already have elsewhere.

The Activity Cards at present serve no purpose, and occupy precious space on the PS5’s UI that could be utilized for something more useful. I’m sure players wouldn’t mind if they were removed altogether in favor of less clutter.
