About Magic Thread
Magic Thread is a new crafting material item. You use Magic Thread in the Ancient Archives, in conjunction with different wood and gem types to craft some of the new craftable rods. You can use it as a part to craft the following fishing rods.
- Precision Rod
- Wisdom Rod
- Resourceful Rod
- Seasons Rod
- Riptide Rod
- Voyager Rod
In order to craft fishing rods you need to gain access to the Ancient Archives on the Ancient Isles, but having four players present four fragments to the pedestals in the Ancient Isles cave while an Eclipse takes place. It’s pretty complicated! After that, you can use the crafting mechanic. Before unlocking crafting, the Magic Thread is only really useful to sell, unless you want to stash it away for later.
How To Get Magic Thread
If you want to get hold of some Magic Thread, you broadly have two options.
- Fishing – You have a chance to catch Magic Thread more or less anywhere, a bit like Treasure Maps. The chance it relatively low, so grinding for it in any quantity could take a while. We found Magic Thread first by fishing.
- Treasure Chests – Magic Thread is a possible reward on opening a Treasure Chest. You can find Treasure Chests by fishing up Treasure Maps. You can then take them to Jack Marrow to get them fixed, then follow the coordinates. We haven’t got Magic Thread from a Treasure Chest yet.
