Esports and gaming media network GAMURS Group has announced the addition of Carlos Alimurung as the company’s new President.
According to the company’s announcement on LinkedIn, Alimuring will work alongside GAMURS Group CEO and Founder Riad Chikhani to lead the company into ‘an exciting new chapter of growth and innovation.’
GAMURS Group also noted that it will continue to expand across key verticals and ‘broaden the business’ coverage within the gaming and esports industry.’
Alimurung has notable prior experience working in the esports media landscape, having recently worked as the CEO of esports media platform ONE Esports, the subsidiary of Group ONE Holdings (ONE). Alimurung’s previous experience includes tenures as Battlefy’s Chief Business Officer and LG Electronic’s Head of Home Entertainment Strategy.
Established in 2014, GAMURS Group is known for operating several brands focusing on the esports and entertainment news markets, including websites such as Dot Esports, Twinfinite and Upcomer. The latter was acquired from Enthusiast Gaming back in 2022 when it closed a $12M Series A funding led by Elysian Park Ventures and Cerro Capital.
“I’m thrilled to join GAMURS Group as President,” said Carlos Alimurung in a personal post on LinkedIn.
“Learning about the business and the team has been an exciting journey. Riad Chikhani has built a robust portfolio of media brands, and I’m excited to expand the business’ commercial landscape with him and the team.”
Despite expanding its portfolio to 17 publications and raising $28.9m (~22.77m, according to PitchBook) since its creation, GAMURS’ year hasn’t been a smooth ride with the company announcing a wave of layoffs in 2024.
In September, 30 people were terminated, according to a report by GamesIndustry.biz. The company cited ‘unprecedented shifts’ in the industry that caused a major restructuring of the business and its priorities.
