Huawei introduced the Mate X6 with a 4.6 mm body, which gives it a very fragile look and feel. To addressed any concerns the company released a four-minute-long video showcasing how durable the foldable smartphone is.

The full video was posted on Weibo, and it revealed the internals of the phone, its heat dissipation, the frame’s durability, and even the strength of the cover screen and the folding panel. You can check it out below:

The Mate X6’s entire internal architecture was changed, with heat-generating components dispersed to prevent the device from heat build up in one specific place. This arrangement minimizes thermal throttling and is a fairly standard practice in the industry.

The Mate X6 has a 3D VC with liquid cooling. Huawei also equipped the phone with a graphite sheet, which is more thermoconductive. This means it can cut through a solid block of ice quicker than a copper plate.

The hinge and the frame are built from a new, stronger material. Our Chinese is rough, so we relied on a machine translator, which said this is an aerospace-grade material used in rockets. The frame manages to stay straight even after a massive hit from a cement block, unlike its unnamed competitor.

The 6.45″ cover screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass. It also does a great job of protecting the display and it wasn’t even scratched in the controlled test.

The most impressive test was when Huawei decided to showcase the strength of the foldable display. The 7.93″ panel, thin as a piece of paper, stayed in one piece even after a 300-kilogram motorbike was dangling from it.

Foldable smartphones are becoming more durable by the day, and the Mate X6 is yet another step in teh right direction.
