Black Ops 6 and Warzone bug lets you unlock this new gun early and for free

Right now, both Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty Warzone are in the midst of the Hit List event, which has both personal and community rewards tracks. In regards to the community track, the number one prize is the new Sirin 9mm special weapon, but CoD fans are collectively some way off unlocking it just yet. However, a new bug is letting people unlock, use, and level up the gun early in most game modes.

While you could be a good little gamer and wait for the official Black Ops 6 Sirin unlock method to arrive, there’s quite an incentive to skip the queue. If it were a primary weapon in the FPS game, it would probably fly under the radar as a fairly-decent but forgettable SMG. However, because it’s a special weapon that can be placed in your secondary slot, it is a lot more desirable. Basically, you can get an SMG-equivalent weapon in your usual pistol slot without having to use the Overkill wildcard. For Black Ops 6 multiplayer, especially, that’s quite handy indeed.

There are currently two methods that will get you the Sirin 9mm early. The first will require you to part ways with some money. The Cash Bandit bundle not only gives you an operator skin that turns you into a bloodthirsty raccoon, but it also contains the Debt Collector blueprint for the Sirin. As you may already know, purchasing a blueprint for a gun will unlock it in your arsenal, even if you haven’t met whatever requirements are needed to get it through gameplay, battle passes, or events.

The second involves this new bug that was found and shared by Call of Duty content creator ‘Sage.’ Basically, all you need to do is go to your loadout, click the secondary slot, navigate over to the Special tab, and you’ll see the locked Sirin 9mm. Click on it, then within the Sirin’s submenu, navigate across to the Store tab where you will see the Debt Collector blueprint. Then you need to press whichever key or button you have bound to modify attachments in the gunsmith, and the gun will mysteriously be added to your current loadout.

I’ve hopped on Black Ops 6 and been able to verify this myself, but there are a couple of caveats. The first is that this doesn’t seem to work for your Black Ops 6 multiplayer loadouts – it’ll let you select the Sirin, but once you back out from the loadout menu, it won’t save your changes. However, it does work in Zombies, as you can see from the screenshot below. I was able to load up a game of Zombies and use the Sirin with no problems. Given Sage’s video shows him in the Warzone menus, this trick does appear to be working in the battle royale game as well. It’s just BO6 multiplayer where it might not work for you.

All this being said, by the time you read this, there’s a very real chance that Treyarch will have patched this up – if it has already, my condolences. This is a pretty big bug and I’m sure it’ll get fixed very speedily, so you may have to be fast if you want to level up the Sirin and add it to your Zombies and Warzone loadouts early. The Hit List event concludes on Wednesday, December 4 so the Sirin should be unlocked soon anyway, so it isn’t the end of the world if you miss out.

I have to say, this method does make me feel somewhat smug – I think putting a new weapon behind a community event is a fine idea, and it would have been an exciting moment when it did eventually unlock for everyone. However, the fact that you could pay to get it before anyone else with the Cash Bandit bundle is not something that sits well with me, so knowing that the blueprint is the cause of this bug does make me feel a little bit warm and fuzzy inside…
