Yoshinori Kitase and Naoki Hamaguchi have reealed during a panel at the Korean G-Star 2024 gaming conference that the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will allow players to use the airship to freely fly across the game world. The airship, which is known as the Highwind, was previously featured in the original version of Final Fantasy VII, and was given to Cloud and his team after stealing it from Shinra. Players could then use the airship to travel freely around the world map; it was later upgraded with rocket boosters to make navigation much faster, although it wasn’t able to land on mountainous terrain or water (you’d need a Golden Chocobo for that).Hamaguchi-san wasn’t able to go into much detail about the Highwind in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, but did offer the following little tidbit:We will not cheat with the airship system (in FFVII Remake Part 3,) but take the challenge head-on so that it can freely fly all over the game map.As previously reported, Kitase and Hamaguchi confirmed during the same panel that the story for FFVII Remake Part 3 is complete, and that development on the game is moving forward.
