Now we’ve reached the middle of November, Microsoft is rolling out this month’s system update for all players, including a nostalgic treat from the Xbox 360 era. Alongside updates for the Xbox app on PC and the search function on console, The November Xbox update also resurrects the friend request feature.Xbox November update adds friend requests, improves search, and moreAs detailed on Xbox Wire, the latest update brings back friend requests. You’ll still be able to follow people, allowing you to keep up with their shared content, but you can now also choose to send friend requests, which gives you “greater control and flexibility over who can see your player data.” Following the update, Xbox says: “Your current connections will be updated accordingly. You will remain friends with those players who have also added you as a friend, and you will continue following anyone who hasn’t.”Alongside the friend request feature, relationship and privacy notifications have also been updated and can be configured on console or the Xbox app on PC and mobile.As for other updates for Xbox consoles, new options to create gamerpics from achievements art and screenshots have been added. There are also new zoom and crop features for when you’re creating a background for your Xbox dashboard. Looking over at the Xbox app on PC, all players can now access the ‘Jump back’ feature when using the app in its handheld-friendly compact mode. “The new Home experience brings together the latest and greatest content from Game Pass and Store in one convenient place,” Xbox says. “You’ll also have access to the latest games, news, curated recommendations, free-to-play content, and deals.”Consoles and the PC app will both now benefit from a “new AI-powered search” feature, which should make the feature more accurate. According to the announcement, the search will “allow you to look up things such as ‘cozy farming games with fishing’ or ‘FPS games with zombies.'” Looking at the world of Xbox accessories, a host of new functions have been added to the Xbox Accessories app, letting you calibrate the thumbsticks on the Xbox Elite Series 2, calibrate the triggers on the Elite Series 2 and Xbox Wireless Controller, map your thumbsticks to buttons on the Elite Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller, and more.
