Players looking forward to collecting the South of Midnight achievements in Compulsion’s upcoming Xbox exclusive might be pleased to know that South of Midnight’s game length is only expected to last around 12 hours. South of Midnight will be a short experienceThis week, Xbox dropped a South of Midnight documentary offering a look behind the scenes at how Compulsion Games is building the gorgeous stop-motion game. Alongside commentary with some of the developers involved with the game’s music, art, gameplay, and narrative, we also get a look at more South of Midnight gameplay and protagonist Hazel’s third-person adventure through the Bayou. The game looks awesome, and while it isn’t mentioned in the documentary, we’ve also learned that South of Midnight is going to be a short experience. YouTuber Parris shared on Xthat South of Midnight’s “Official game length is 12 hours as it’s difficult to gauge exploration time,” explaining that Compulsion Games had provided “additional clarification” about the game. We’re yet to see the game’s achievement list, but it’s likely that those 12 hours refer to the story arc and not the amount of time it might take to finish everything the game has to offer.Additionally, if you’re not a fan of stop motion gameplay, Compulsion Games has also confirmed that “You can turn off stop-motion animation” for gameplay, although it can’t be disabled for cutscenes. South of Midnight leaves our list of upcoming Game Pass games in 2025, launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
