Destiny 2 to dish out double dungeon drops following perk weighting saga

After, well, who knows how long, Destiny 2’s remarkable perk weighting bug is about to be squashed. Bungie has confirmed that a hotfix is imminent, and it has also outlined its plans for how it’s going to thank the community for helping it unearth the issue and compensate players that have been chasing elusive weapon rolls. In short, loads of great loot is going to be up for grabs really soon.

If you’re reading this, then you are more than likely up to speed with what’s been going on with Destiny 2’s extraordinary weapon perk bug. For those unaware, community research essentially quantified a myth that had been spoken in Destiny circles for a long while: ‘some weapon rolls just seem harder to get.’ Turns out, the myth is true. However, Bungie is ready to turn it from reality into history with a fix in its next update on Tuesday, November 5.

While the nail will be hammered into the coffin on this bug, Bungie isn’t done trying to make amends with the FPS game’s community. It has already given players a free (and poignant) emblem, but it promised more good news was on the way. Now, it’s here, and it comes in two parts.

Part one involves giving all of those running the Destiny 2 Vesper’s Host Dungeon “double drops for encounter and activity completions.” This means that you’ll get twice the amount of weapons and armor dropping. This gives you a better chance to finally score any weapon rolls that have evaded you while the bug has been meddling with things, this time on an even playing field.

The second part involves Banshee-44, as the vendor will be offering “a small collection” of weapons with “curated perk rolls” that players have been struggling to obtain. While any Dungeon-exclusive weapons in that collection will still require you to own access to that Dungeon and have completed it at least once, it provides a very focused method of you getting some incredibly good rolls. Below you can see which weapons Banshee will initially be offering, along with their rolls.

This lineup includes the VS Chill Inhibitor, the grenade launched that was really the genesis of this entire perk weighting saga. One of the best rolls available on the weapon was one of those abnormally difficult ones to get, and was the focus of much of the initial research that the community conducted.

Destiny 2 will begin double drops in Vesper’s Host and start selling these curated roll weapons from Tuesday November 19 onwards. The double dungeon drops will continue until Tuesday December 3, but there’s currently no end date for when the curated collection will leave Banshee’s store (however, Bungie encourages getting these weapons “at your earliest convenience).

Despite this being one of the most monumental discoveries in Destiny history, both Bungie and the community have been remarkably understanding and appreciative of one another during this entire ordeal. There has been peace where there could’ve quite easily have been pitchforks. The community seems proud to have played such a big role in finally putting this mystery to bed, and Bungie has been quick, transparent, and thankful throughout.
