We have plenty to look forward to when collecting the Halo Infinite achievements next week, as the Halo Infinite Winter 2024 update arrives on November 5. The free update is packed to the brim with new features which give us yet more reasons to return to one of the best Xbox exclusive games, including the previously announced third-person Firefight mode, a new playlist inspired by Halo 2, map remakes, and more. The Winter 2024 update is chock-full of Halo Infinite goodnessAs revealed on Halo Waypoint, this year’s winter update, Great Journey, will add the MA5K Avenger to Halo Infinite’s arsenal. It’s an SMG-style weapon designed for close-quarters combat and will be the starting weapon in the upcoming Delta Arena playlist, while other parts of the game will include it on weapon racks, and Firefight will feature it as a secondary weapon. The aforementioned Delta Arena playlist is inspired by Halo 2 and features the Slayer, Oddball, Capture the Flag, and King of the Hill game modes. To give the playlist a 2004 Halo feel, clamber and sprinting will be disabled, while friendly player collision will be activated and jump height will be increased. Additionally, to top off that nostalgic feel, seven classic maps have been remastered for the mode, including Ascension, Lockout, Midship, and Beaver Creek. As for Firefight, a dedicated third-person variant is being added, featuring the Fiestafight: King of the Hill, Firefight: King of the Hill (with just Normal difficulty at launch), Gruntpocalypse: King of the Hill, and Gruntpocalypse Fiesta: King of the Hill game modes across 20 maps. On top of that, you can also expect to see new Fortress and Inquisitor maps added to Ranked mode, several Sandbox tweaks for the VK78 Commando and MK50 Sidekick weapons, Thruster, and Active Camo. Looking further ahead, the newly renamed Halo Studios has announced that it has multiple Halo games in development using Unreal Engine 5.
