New World: Aeternum Senior Producer Katy Kaszynski recently sat down to answer some of the frequently asked questions around the single-player experience and PvP regarding the title.

Scope out the full questions and answers around New World: Aeternum below:

Single Player Questions

Question:  Will players be required to team up to beat content in New World: Aeternum?

Answer: Players can complete the Main Story Questline completely solo, and take part in the endgame repeatable soul trials for daily rewards. For those that want to dabble in group content, they can use the easy queuing system in the activities menu to play modes like Outpost Rush, 3v3s, and Expeditions, where they can continue their solo experience ‘alone in a crowd’.

Question: How have enemy encounters been rebalanced for single-player instances so they are the perfect amount of challenging for solo adventurers?

Answer: All encounters along the Main Story Questline have been tuned so that solo players have a way through, though having a group will as always make things easier, a group is not required at any point.

Question: What resources do solo players have to help them overcome challenges where others in multiplayer could otherwise invite friends into their party or solicit help from their guide?

Answer: If you find some of the open world content challenging, the first option is to get stronger during your adventuring — do the main story and side quests, and when rolling for random rewards, Aeternum’s Loot Biasing system serves up more of the gear you already have. Spend some coin on the TP, or start crafting better gear for yourself.

Buy a house in a territory with active lifestyle buffs, get some trophies, etc. There’s tons of ways to grow in power. You can also solicit help in that section of chat, and our awesome community of players will come to your aid.

Question: Are there powerful armor sets, weapons, equipment, etc. available for solo players to earn that are on a similar power or rarity level to the rewards given for completing late and end-game multiplayer content?

Answer: Yes! Solo players can chase exciting powerful artifacts from a variety of solo activities such as Daily Soul Trials and hunting down certain rare Named Enemies.

For the more PvP inclined players, exploring the Cutlass Keys Lawless Zone gives you an opportunity to find doubloons which can be used to purchase maximum gear score 725 items.

New World: Aeternum has a renewed focus on making content accessible for all sorts of players, so there’s plenty of ways to chase powerful gear no matter your playstyle.

Question: What parts of New World: Aeternum can I look forward to most as a solo player?

Answer: New World: Aeternum offers an expansive and deep experience for solo players, with a compelling narrative, rich questlines and ample opportunities for exploration and PvE combat.

Settlements and outposts offer storage, trading, and crafting, all of which can be utilized by players who decide against joining a company or participating in influence races. Players who reach the end game can also challenge themselves against bosses and win desirable rewards in new solo trials.

PVP Questions

Question: How easy is it to jump into PVP, Raids, and other multiplayer activities after playing primarily in single-player?

Answer: Players can use the in game activities menu to quickly and easily queue for multiplayer modes like Outpost Rush, 3v3 arenas, expeditions and more. For raids and multiplayer elite trials, players post in chat to join a group or start their own to engage in this highly strategized content.

Question: When do players unlock the ability to do PVP-focused content?

Answer: There are several options for PvP. At Level 10 players are allowed to join a faction – once you join a faction, you can flag for PvP and run PvP faction missions, as well as participate in influence races and wars for territory control.

Not all content requires you to be in a faction, such as 3v3 Arenas (unlocked at L20) and Outpost Rush (unlocked at L60) which you can join from the activities menu, and the Cursed Mists which is a Free for All area of Cutlass Keys where crossing the mists auto-flags you for PvP.

Question: How is PvP balanced so that competitive play feels balanced? What is the team doing to ensure that players of high power levels aren’t matched with players who might have less experience?

Answer: For some modes like 3v3 and OPR with gear score scaling which helps ensure a more even playing field. With Aeternum we are also adding a matchmaking rating system which will try to group players with similar skills.

Question: Are there abilities/skills that players can unlock/utilize that are unique to PvP activities?

Answer: Most of the base weapon abilities are universal across game modes, this was done intentionally to make the base weapons more valuable across various areas, but there are a variety of item perks that are geared towards PvP Only.

And when choosing where to spend weapon mastery points, things that have staggers, stuns, or other sorts of crowd control mentioned in the description are ideal for PvP.

Question: What rewards can players look forward to that can only be obtained in PvP?

Answer: There’s lots of exciting rewards which are PvP exclusive. On the gear front, the Cutlass Keys Lawless zone, Outpost Rush, and 3v3 Arena are some of the only ways to get new 725 gear pieces. The PvP Reward Track remains a lucrative source of gear, pvp-only craft mods, coin, and consumables.

For those who like a more cosmetic chase, there are unique appearances that’re only found in PvP content such as the Reward Track, not tomention the mount attachments and housing items you can only get from PvP and Arenas!

And for the ultimate flex, team up with a Company and declare war on one of Aeternum’s territories to earn a slice of the settlement’s trade economy and to put your name literally on the map.

Question: How often can players expect new content and challenges to come to PvP?

Answer: There are a variety of PvP activities that players can participate in, with Outpost Rush, 3v3 Arenas and the Cursed Mists Free for All zone being available on demand, and Influence Races and Wars which are scheduled so players can rally their faction and plan for victory.

Question: What avenues will players have to report problematic players in PvP?

Answer: Problematic players can be reported directly in game using the social menu, as well as the in game menu using the submit feedback function.
