As players prepare to dive into the Dragon Age: The Veilguard achievements tomorrow, players have questioned if Mass Effect will also alter its tone and art style. In response to this, Mass Effect director Michael Gamble has confirmed that the next Mass Effect will keep the “mature tone” and photorealistic visuals the Xbox RPG has always had.The next Mass Effect will “maintain” the original trilogy’s tone”Lots of people asking me about Mass Effect now that Veilguard reviews are out, and Oct 31 is close,” Gamble said on X. “Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a sci-fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs… and has to have different kinds of love.”Regarding tone questions: Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I’m gonna say for now.”Dragon Age: The Veilguard has received some excellent reviews ahead of its launch on Xbox Series X|S tomorrow, but its step away from the grim dark art style of its predecessors has left some players on the fence. One user on X went as far as to compare the new style to “Pixar,” asking Gamble to not “Pixar Mass Effect like you guys did with Dragon Age.””I’m not sure I agree with the Pixar thing, but Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as I’m running it,” Gamble replied. After being announced in 2020, we’re yet to see any in-game footage for BioWare’s next Mass Effect bar a few teases. With N7 now just around the corner, we’ll hopefully see something from the upcoming game in November. Last year, the team dropped a 30-second teaser trailer alongside some artwork, which sent Mass Effect fans into a frenzy of speculation.
