Jim Harbaugh commented on winning his first Big Ten Championship as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.

Jim Harbaugh entered the 2021 season with an incentives-laden contract extension with the Michigan Wolverines. Long criticized for not leading the program to success, Harbaugh finally struck gold this year. After clinching his first win over Ohio State as head coach, he can now call himself a champion for the first time.

Harbaugh’s Wolverines defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 42-3 at Lucas Oil Stadium to win the Big Ten Championship for the first time of his career.

Following the game, Harbaugh spoke with FOX Sports’ Jenny Taft about the win, where he credited the performances of running back Hassan Haskins, quarterback Cade McNamara and defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson throughout the season.

Harbaugh wanted to thank those three players in particular for helping the Wolverines prove the doubters wrong.

Haskins ran for five touchdowns against the Buckeyes last week to help the Wolverines clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game. McNamara played stout football under center, where he only logged three interceptions on the year entering Saturday. Then, there was Hutchinson, who broke the single-season sack record and played himself into Heisman contention.

Michigan got on the scoreboard first with a 67-yard run by Corum, and they would not look back for the remainder of the game. The Wolverines running game picked up 211 yards and three touchdowns against Iowa’s defense. Michigan’s defense limited the Hawkeyes to just 279 yards of offense and three points.

Harbaugh will get to celebrate the biggest win of his coaching career so far. They will now wait to see who they will face in the College Football Playoff semifinals during the Selection Show on Sunday afternoon.

After seven years, Harbaugh has finally won a Big Ten Championship as head coach. And much like Michigan fans around the world, Harbaugh is “fired up” that Michigan will be in the College Football Playoff.
